What You Can Use to Clean a White Patio Dining Table

What You Can Use to Clean a White Patio Dining Table

Despite its low maintenance and high durability, white patio dining table that is made of resin is a bit difficult to keep clean. The furniture remains exposed to harsh environmental conditions, leading to discoloration from mildew and other outdoor elements. If cleaned and maintained properly using simple tips, resin furniture can retail its glossy look and last for several years.

Water. The first step to cleaning white resin table is a simple spray of water. The furniture can be sprayed down with a garden hose. The stream of water helps remove any loose debris. A bucket filled with warm water with a mixture of one cup dishwasher powder can be applied to white resin furniture as well. The table can be scrubbed with the solution, and rinsed with the hose.

Bleach Solution. A solution of ¾ cup regular household bleach, a gallon of water and a tablespoon of laundry detergent can be used to remove tough stains on resin furniture. Mix the solution well and test a small amount on the furniture in a hidden area to avoid discoloration. Apply the solution to a small area and let it sit for 5 minutes. Scrub the area with a sponge or soft-bristled brush and rinse well.

Vinegar. Vinegar is an effective cleaner for removing mold and mildew. It inhibits the growth of bacteria on the furniture for some time. One cup of white vinegar can be applied along with a tablespoon of dishwashing soap or baking soda. The solution can be sprayed onto the mildew and gently scrubbed with a soft brush. The furniture should be rinsed well with water and allowed to air dry.

Krylon Paint. A paint for white resin, Krylon Fusion can serve as a last resort for non-removable discoloration. The furniture should be wiped down with an ammonia-based cleaner or paint thinner to remove any particles and dust. The area should be completely taped off to avoid unwanted paint stains. Hold the paint 8 to 10 inches from the furniture and spray in a horizontal, sweeping motion. An application of multiple thin coats will suffice until the surface is completely covered.

Aside from proper care and maintenance, early deterioration of your white resin table can be prevented by buying high quality pieces. Below are some examples.

How to Bargain for Patio Dining Table Clearance?

How to Bargain for Patio Dining Table Clearance?

With a shaky economy, it is easier than ever to bargain for patio dining table clearance, even at the swankiest of shops. And let’s face it: most people love to get a good deal. Shoppers look for sale items, discounted goods or items sold in bulk. Most sales clerks and store owners will work with customers who bargain because they do not want to lose a sale. Also, remember that furniture is marked up, so there is room for the savvy shopper to bargain.

  1. Look over furniture for flaws like tears, rips and discoloring, and ask the clerk if the price is negotiable. If he says no, ask to speak to the manager. Be confident when bargaining. Be professional, friendly and courteous. Point out the flaws and ask for a reduced price.

  2. Try buying showroom display furniture at a discounted price. Most of the time, showroom furniture is for display purposes only, ask the manager if he would be willing to sell you the piece at a reduced price. You might get up to 50% discount on display furniture, especially if it is momentarily out of stock.

  3. Do your research before you buy furniture. Check other retailers in the area who sell the same brand or type of furniture and be prepared to make a comparison of prices if the sales clerk or manager will not budge. Be polite and never take it personally if he suggest you go to another store instead. Do not bother haggling if he adopts a difficult attitude.

  4. Ask the person behind the cash register for coupons on furniture and when sales will take place. The mere question might spawn an attractive sales price.

  5. Shop for furniture at a second-hand store. This is the easiest way to bargain for furniture because the furniture is old or used and the sore does not sell the furniture as a retailer. The price is mostly determined by a set amount for particular pieces of furniture, not the brand. Some places may overcharge if they sell above average second-hand furniture. Use this to knock them down on price, mentioning that the furniture is overpriced for used furniture.

Also consider looking into the sales and discounts offered by online stores. And with some research, you can find a great-looking patio table at an affordable price, like the ones below.

Buying and Caring for a Patio End Tables Wicker

Buying and Caring for a Patio End Tables Wicker

Patio end tables wicker make any room more refreshing and conducive to rest and relaxation. A wicker coffee table is ideal for informal and small spaces, making the great venues for food, drinks, and your favorite flower pots. Also, because it is made from natural materials, wicker tables do a great job of blending in well with the environment, complementing all the other natural elements of your outdoor space. Actually, it does not matter where you want your coffee table to be placed, and how you want it to be used. What is important is its style, size and color complements the rest of the décor.

Among the most common tones for wicker coffee tables are natural tan or honey like the End Table w/Aldon-Sealed Stone Top *Non Stackable by Outdoor Greatroom Company, although there are other options that you can choose form depending on your preference. While wicker suits well for spaces with rustic appeal, it also does a great job complementing wood tones. A white wicker coffee table like the Club 6 Coffee Table by Lebello is also idea for pastel and romantic décor themes. On the other hand, painted wicker in your favorite color will make it livelier and more attractive. It is also an ideal DIY method of restoring worn out wicker tables.

It pays to pick the right style of wicker coffee table to ensure that it matches and even enhances the interior of your home. For instance, a classic wicker with ornamented details and features will surely look awkward when placed inside a modern-looking living space. The same is also true for a minimalist and ultramodern coffee table in a classic interior. To make it easier for you to look for a coffee table, choose wicker coffee tables with straight plain lines for modern interiors like the Carmel Coffee Table by Meadow Decor and a rounded, detailed piece for a more rustic or traditional space.

When choosing a wicker coffee table, it is important that to have an eye for detail so you do not miss on the minor inconsistencies. Because wicker is a natural material, watch out for split fibers or an uneven finish that could undermine the quality of the table. There are no problems displaying wicker coffee tables outside. However, do not put them in places that are prone to rain or to damp weather conditions. Otherwise, it becomes susceptible to mold. Likewise, do not put it in sunlight as it can make the table fade easily. So if you plan to put your wicker coffee table outdoors, keep it covered under a patio or porch.

To give added comfort and more color to your wicker table, consider decorating it with flower vases, figurines and other trinkets. You can even use it to display your collection of books, stones or shells. Of course, if you will use it to entertain guests, make sure that you still leave room for them to set their refreshments and snacks on.

Popular Alternatives for the Top of Outdoor Patio End Tables

Popular Alternatives for the Top of Outdoor Patio End Tables

Patio furniture has come a long way since the days when a few folding lawn chairs sufficed for backyard seating. Today’s outdoor furniture includes oversized chairs and couches with decorative pillows. Tables hold market umbrellas that punctuate the scenery and give shade. Barstool sets have matching outdoor beverage stations with refrigerators. Much like inside the home, patio end tables are usually the center for relaxation and gathering. Because the patio table gets a lot of use and is a focal point of the backyard, many homeowners are interested in discovering table top alternatives.

Tempered glass. Today, you can find a built-in outdoor fireplace made of stone, a gazebo made of cedar, or a sculptured fountain bubbling in the backyard. Natural building materials are used in the backyard more than ever, and even an outdoor table top to glass is one area where you can seek a natural element. The Gazelle Glass Coffee Table by EuroStyle is an example.

Teak. Although costly, teak is an attractive patio table. Check out the Amazonia Teak Nile Teak Round Table by International Home Miami. Teak has a warm, rich color and a teak table can be paired with chairs made of another material. This material has limitations, though, as it eventually succumbs to the effects of sun and weather. If you cannot take it inside for winter, cover it completely.

Tile. Tiled table tops create a decorative focal point and can reflect a decorating scheme. Some tiled tables can be quite heavy, so it may require more than one person to move your tabletop. Ensure that the tile and grout on the tiled top have been sealed against water, or the tiles could become loose. Tile can be small colored chips that are formed into a pattern or large tile similar to floor tile.

Wicker. Wicker is a popular choice for outdoor patio tables, although a glass top is usually present. Again, be certain the glass is tempered. Although wicker does not tolerate weather well, all-weather wicker is available that looks like wicker but is plastic resin on a rattan frame.

Powder-coated steel. Patio-coated steel outdoor tables come in a large variety of styles and shapes and are usually sold in sets with chairs. Reasonably priced, powder-coated steel tables require minimum care. Rust that occurs with exposure to weather is the greatest concern with powder-coated steel. However, if caught early, rust can be sanded off and matching paint reapplied.

PolyWood. PolyWood is a UV-fade resistant and weather resistant option. It has markings that look like wood grain but it is actually made of high-density plastics. PolyWood is resistant to hot sun, cold winter and salty coastal air. An example is the Club 18″ Side Table by PolyWood.

Weather and wind are the enemies of all outdoor furniture. Ideally, you need to store outdoor furniture in a garage or shed during harsh winter months. Covering the furniture with zippered protective bags is also an option. Simply covering them with a plastic tarp gives protection from the elements and is less expensive well.

What Kinds of Table Can I Use as Patio Accent Tables?

What Kinds of Table Can I Use as Patio Accent Tables?

Jessica, a twenty-something intern in a fashion magazine sent us a question: “I have read and written blogs and articles on decorating your indoors with accent furniture pieces. And now that comfy living has extended outdoors, I’m just wondering if an al fresco accent table will still work, or will it just too much? If it does work, what kinds of table can I use as accent tables?”

Patio accent tables add flair and functionality to an outdoor living space. Many can relate to Jessica, as outdoor decorating is more focused on functionality and resiliency from outdoor elements, with style usually coming in second. But you can very well have accent furniture outdoors; you just have to know what works and what do not.

Before buying one, consider what you plan to use it for; if it will be in a covered outdoor space or exposed to the elements; and what style will work with your other furniture. And because these tables tend to be small and placed off to the side, choosing something that contrasts with the rest of your seating area can create a wonderful focal point.

Wood Tables

Like the Mission 51-inch Round Table by Anderson Teak, wood tables are versatile and can be designed to coordinate with any furniture. You can choose wood that is resistant to the elements, like teak or cedar, or try a stain or varnish for added protection. Choose a stain if you like the look of wood grain showing through for traditional or country décor, or pick an opaque stain or glossy paint for a more modern look.

Cat Aluminum Tables

Cast aluminum tables like the Cobblestone Cast Aluminum 48″ Round Dining Table by Alfresco Home are lightweight, weather-resistant and come in a virtually limited range of designs. These are a perfect choice for a patio that is not covered, or for an area where you need some versatility, as you can easily move the table from one place to another.

Wrought Iron Tables

Wrought iron offers a heavier, more traditional look for an accent table. This can be a good choice for a traditional seating area, or can offer an old-fashioned, charming contrast to a modern furniture set. Wrought iron is also weather-resistant, so it is suitable for covered or open areas.

Resin Wicker Tables

Wicker adds a beautiful tropical look to any deck or patio, but will not generally last long outside. Choose wicker only if you have a covered area and if you are willing to store the table inside during bad weather and through the winter. The Riva Werzalit Top Round Dining Table by Compamia is one fine example of a wicker accent table.

Other Accent Tables

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, try using another object as an accent table. A large, flat rock in the corner of a patio would work beautifully, as would the stump of a tree on a traditional deck. Choose a colorful mosaic-topped table to brighten up a corner outside, or for a special occasion, bring an indoor table outside and cover it with a small tablecloth.
